These seven (7) beautiful prayers were given to St. Bridget of Sweden by our blessed Lord with the instruction that they were to be recited everyday for twelve (12) years. The traditional chapel St. Jude Shrine, Texas, informs us that this devotion was “pronounced authentic and was recommended by the ‘Sacro Collegio de propaganda fide‘, as well as by Pope Clement XII. Pope Innocent X confirmed this revelation as being from Our Lord.”
Our Lord gave five (5) promises to those who will recite faithfully these prayers, daily, for twelve (12) years and, be it of any utility, the reader may care to peruse the comments section (below) for the personal testimonies of those who keep the devotion.
The promises are thus (via St. Jude Shrine):
I. The soul who prays them will suffer no Purgatory.
II. The soul who prays them will be accepted among the Martyrs as though he had spilled his blood for the faith.
III. The soul who prays them can choose three others whom Jesus will then keep in a state of grace sufficient to become holy.
IV. No one in the four successive generations of the soul who prays them will be lost.
V. The soul who prays them will be made conscious of his death one month in advance.
These prayers focus on the seven (7) Gospel accounts of the shedding of our Lord’s most Precious Blood and it is certainly a worthy practise to meditate upon them daily. Indeed, the contemplation of our Lord’s Passion is a most valuable gift in and of itself and is one of the four (4) graces specifically promised those who adhere to the Seven Sorrows of Lady devotion; it is the very path unto salvation.
Your correspondent, a miserable sinner, tries to contemplate these seven moments during the 7x Gloria Patris, offered daily as part of his morning ablutions, in honour of his Guardian Angel (albeit alternating with the Seven (7) Sorrows of our Blessed Lady or the Seven Sorrows & Joys of St. Joseph).
By way of additional (and prompt) devotion, it is most beneficial to offer twice daily the Pater Noster – Ave Maria – Gloria Patri in honour of the drops of our Lord’s Precious Blood, of infinite worth, and which spilt to the ground in agony for love of us. This practise comes via the ‘True Letter of Jesus Christ’ – from which many miracles have been recorded – and the reader may like to examine this devotion at his leisure. The account of Our Lady, as the Mater Dolorosa, catching a train to Rome, is of special interest.
The Fifteen (15) Miraculous Prayers of St. Bridget can also be prayed and the Revelations of St. Bridget can be found free online, or purchased here, and their reading seems particularly apt for our modern, post-conciliar age: this of the great apostasy.
The pre-conciliar composed Litany of the Precious Blood of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is also included below for your convenience.

Opening Prayer
O Jesus, I now wish to pray the Lord’s Prayer seven times in unity with the love with which Thou sanctified this prayer in Thy Heart. Take it from my lips into Thy Divine Heart. Improve and complete it until it brings as much honour and joy to the Blessed Trinity as Thou granted it on earth with this prayer. May these pour upon Thy Holy Humanity in glorification to Thy painful wounds and the Precious Blood Thou spilled from them. Amen.
1) The Circumcision
The First Mortal sin
Our Father … Hail Mary … Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee the first wounds, the first pains and the first bloodshed, as atonement for my and all of humanity’s sins of youth, as protection against the first mortal sin, especially among my relatives. Amen.
2) The Suffering on the Mount of Olives
Sins of the heart
Our Father … Hail Mary … Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee the terrifying suffering of the Heart of Jesus on the Mount of Olives, and every drop of His sweat of Blood, as atonement for my and all of humanity’s sins of the heart, as protection against such sins, and for the spreading of divine and brotherly love. Amen.
3) The Scourging
Sins of the flesh
Our Father … Hail Mary … Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee the many thousands of wounds, the gruesome pains and the Precious Blood of the Scourging, as atonement for my and all of humanity’s sins of the flesh, as protection against such sins and the preservation of innocence, especially among my relatives. Amen.
4) The Crowning with Thorns
Sins of pride
Our Father … Hail Mary … Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee the wounds, the pains and the Precious Blood of the Holy Head of Jesus from the crowning with thorns, as atonement for my and all of humanity’s sins of the spirit, as protection against such sins and for the spreading of the Kingdom of Christ here on earth. Amen.
5) The Carrying of the Cross
Sins of the tongue, against the Cross
Our Father … Hail Mary … Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee the sufferings on the Way of the Cross, especially the Holy Wound on His shoulder and its Precious Blood, as atonement for my and all of humanity’s rebellion against the Cross, every grumbling against Thy holy Providence, and all other sins of the tongue, as protection against such sins and for true love of the Cross. Amen.
6) The Crucifixion of Jesus
For the Church and the Jews
Our Father … Hail Mary … Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee Thy Son on the Cross, His nailing and lifting on high, the wounds on His hands and feet, and the three streams of His Precious Blood that poured forth for us from these, the extreme tortures of His Body and Soul, His precious Death and its un-bloody renewal in all Holy Masses on earth, as atonement for all wounds against vows and regulations within religious orders, as reparation for my and all the world’s sins, for the sick and dying, for all holy priests and laymen, for the intentions of the Holy Father toward the restoration of Christian families, for the strengthening of faith, for our country, for unity among all nations in Christ and His Church, and also for the Diaspora. Amen.
7) The Piercing of Jesus’ Side
All of mankind and the Holy Souls
Our Father … Hail Mary … Eternal Father, accept as worthy for the needs of Holy Church, and as atonement for the sins of all mankind, the Precious Blood and Water which poured forth from the wound of the Divine Heart of Jesus. Be gracious and merciful towards us.
Blood of Christ, the last precious content of His Holy Heart, wash me of all my and other’s guilt of sin! Water from the side of Christ, wash me clean of all punishments for sin and extinguish the flames of purgatory for me and for all the Poor Souls. Amen.

I would like to be able to PRINT this prayer as to have a hard copy which I could carry with me. Please let me know how I can do this.
Hi Alicija,
Thank you for your comment. You can find a printable version of these prayers here: https://www.ipadre.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/saint_bridget_prayers-12_years.pdf
God bless!
at the top of the page it says click for PDF download. Click and it will download.
Thank you for that link but it doesn’t print correctly. When printed double sided, the 2nd page is upside down.
Can I get a copy of the 7 prayers or a prayer card somewhere?
Hi Ann,
Thank you for your comment. You can find a printable version of these prayers here: https://www.ipadre.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/saint_bridget_prayers-12_years.pdf

Thank you 🙏🏻
You have to change the PRINT setting for double-sided. There are two options. Flip on Long Side or Flip on Short side. Select the other one you are cause tip for
Thank you for this prayer. Glory and praise to God, now and forever.
Do you know if we are allowed to say more than one set of this prayer at a time so as to help more souls to heaven? Thank you!
I don’t know Jenny. Bear in mind, Holy Mother Church has not approved the alleged promises attached to these prayers.
One would suppose that God rewards prayer, fasting and Spiritual Acts of Mercy for the Holy Souls. Be sure to see our post: Daily Prayers for the Holy Souls in Purgatory and always pray Psalm 129 De Profundis for departed loved ones after the 6PM ‘evens’ Angelus Domini.
I missed praying the 7 prayers of St Bridget, X 2 days. What do I do? I am 4 plus years into this prayer.
Thanks
Ann
Keep praying them! DO NOT STOP! and avoid repeating such a situation.
I myself am rounding on 6 years and have come excruciatingly close to missing days in recent times. Obviously no one knows how God will regard missed days, though it may be reasonable to hope, in faith, that, with a firm intention not to doing so again, He may still accept the offering.
You should make up the missed days as a matter of absolute urgency; e.g. today pray them in the early morning; also at midday; and again in the evening (Lauds, Sext & Vespers so to speak).
Perhaps also ponder praying them every day for the rest of your earthly life, even if you live to be 100 and 10.
I do pray twice a day and have a list of people I pray.
Remember Pope Leo xiii (? Not sure if he was the Pope) but one of them said it is better to believe because if it’s approved then we get the graces of the prayers.
Thank you so much for these beautiful prayers. I’m on my ninth year of praying this.
Do you have a list of all the Approved Prayers from Holy Mother Church? Thank you!
That would be a very long list. Look for published prayers that carry an imprimatur or ‘nihil obstat’ (nothing obstructing). One very good book is the Blessed Be God Prayerbook:
Blessed Be God prayerbook is a 2010 reprint of the 1960 edition printed by Kennedy & Sons. Imprimatur–Cardinal Spellman, 1959.
This 748 page Catholic prayer book is a compendium of all of the ancient and traditional prayers of the Catholic faith. For generations it was one of the most popular prayer books in use by Catholic Americans.
Regular and special prayers, popular devotions, favorite novenas.
Meditations and readings from the Holy Bible and the Imitation of Christ.
Epistles and Gospels for Sundays and Holydays from the Tridentine Mass.
Assorted novenas, devotions, and prayers to Our Lord, the Blessed Mother, and the Saints.
Black Leather cover. Size: about 4″ X 6 1/2″, and 5/8″ thick.
A priceless gift! Thank you and God bless you.
These are beautiful prayers!

Devotion was pronounced good and was recommended by the “Sacro Collegio de propaganda fide,” as well as by Pope Clement XII. Pope Innocent X confirmed this revelation as being from Our Lord.
These comments are on the brochure above, and include the Seven Sorrows of Mary
I am so happy I have found your website. I love all of the traditional prayers I was taught as a child. I have been praying the 12 year novena of St. Bridget for 10 years, I have the prayer card which my sister gave me…what a gift. 🙏❤️
Its almost 2024 now. Were you able to finish the 12 year prayers? If so, what graces did you obtain from it? Hope you can reply to my message and God bless.
Dear Blanche
I am many years in saying this prayer, twice a day. I am so grateful to the person who made me aware of it. The Graces received are Hope, Trust in God’s love and Thankfulness in all He provides.
It also keeps me spiritually close to those I pray for. I’m not concerned if it’s approved, it’s my special time for those I love in Communion with God.
These pictures brought me to tears and truly enhance the contemplations on the 7 prayers. Thank you for promoting this prayer in this format. May God richly bless you!
I came across this prayer and loved it. I am prayering the st
Bridget fifteen prayers everyday. Now I just started this prayer and will pray it every.(7 prayers).
God bless your mission.
I agree. The images help me to immerse myself in the prayers
Do you have an image for 7th prayer of the piercing of Our Lord’s side?
The current beautiful pieta image is a devotion all to itself …but takes me away from focusing on the piercing of His side
Hi Kathy, no! I searched and searched for a good still from the film of the actual piercing of our Divine Lord’s side but there was none to be found.
What is the first mortal sin?
Adam and Eve eat of the Tree?
Original Sin from Birth?
It refers to the first mortal sin a person may commit.
Do you know what is meant at the end of the crucifixion prayer by the ‘Diaspora’?
I had been meaning to look this up:
diaspora: [noun] the Jews living outside Palestine or modern Israel. the settling of scattered colonies of Jews outside ancient Palestine after the Babylonian exile. the area outside ancient Palestine settled by Jews.
Regarding approval by the Church, I found this: “Saint Bridget of Sweden who lived during the medieval times was given a set of prayers that guarantees the salvation to the fourth generation of anyone who prays the prayers for twelve years (or sincerely strives to before an earlier death). The prayers were also approved by Pope Clement XII.”
Thank you, Mary, for this information! I will past this on to my family and friends that are saying this beautiful Novena. God Bless You ❤️🙏
Why will this website soon cease? I’m learning so much and haven’t had the time to get through as much as I would like.
Christus Vincit!
Thank you for your comment Theresa. The web-site will shortly go off-line due to personal paucity: I can sustain the cost no longer and plan to start shutting it down next week.
I would recommend, fervently, the 1950s prayer book “Blessed Be God” (see also here and here). Get one to use and another to keep in a safe place! If you attend the (Latin) Mass, be sure to use both the enclosed Missal and also the ‘Prayers said during Mass’ which will really help you to understand the rubrics.
From this web-site, I would recommend making copies of the ‘Storming Heaven’ Novena to the Holy Infant of Prague, the devotions to the Precious Blood, the prayers to Our Lady and also the 30 Day Holy Cloak Novena to St. Joseph. Christus regnat!
Benedicat no Deus, et Virgo custodial nos!
Hello,
Please get in touch with me. I would like to help you keep the site running.
Thank you for your response! I attend the Latin mass. I’m sorry to hear of your hardship.
I will try to print all of the things you’ve suggested and buy a couple of the books. What is meant by enclosed Missal? I have a Missal.
Do you have a specific shut down date? Thank you for your service. May God reward you.
Christus Vincit!
why is this web site shutting down?
Good day.
Please distribute and pray the Gethsemane-prayer.
Gethsemane Hour
Our Lord is calling on all his chosen to be with him in the garden Gethsemane
every Thursday 11pm to Friday 3am
(or at least one hour after midnight between this period).
This is where all five components of the devotion are observed
along with Holy Mass and Benediction (if possible).
It is here that all devotees share in the agony felt by Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane.
The intention is to obtain grace to endure the Great Chastisement and steadfastness in faith.
The prayers, invocations, hymns and choruses that were dictated by Heaven to Barnabas Nwoye from 1997 to 2001 constitute the Precious Blood devotion.
Each component was blessed by Jesus with graces that can be found in the official prayer manual.
The prayers and promises have imprimatur of Rev. Dr. Ayo Maria,
Bishop of Illorin Diocese, Kwara State, Nigeria (June 17th 2000).
Look for the source-Links added below this text.
Jesus:
“My children, I drink this cup for your sake…
rejoice that you are called to this great devotion. There is no need for you to fear those numerous populations of the enemy.
Children, simply offer the wounds, pains, and blood of My left hand for their downfall; you will see them disappear like ashes.
I assure you, many kingdoms of the enemy will disappear in the twinkle of an eye. Pray it and teach it to all men.
My Precious Blood will save.”
Jesus (5. July 1998 – words to Barnabas Nwoye)
“Children, I am in Gethsemane for you and all My people in the whole world. I am in Gethsemane always because of the hour that is coming, the sorrowful hour, so fearful and terrifying. Children, how many will survive? For the love I have for you and for all men, I am here in Gethsemane calling you to come and watch with Me. Remain in Gethsemane with Me so that you will not give up when the hour comes.”
Jesus Christ, 15th March 1999, appealing to all His children to spend some time with him every Thursday between 11pm to 3am Friday morning in the ‘Gethsemane Hour’.

God blessd you.

Hey I saw your comment saying that it is costing you too much to keep up this site? How much does it cost? If I can afford it I will host it instead. Please get in touch with me. The faithful needs sites like these more then ever now.
I agree, “The faithful needs sites like these more then ever now.”
Have you considered Go Fund Me as a cost solution?
Or transferring this important content to another to continue sharing soul support?
Thank you for providing this website. I only wish i discovered it before today and your impending notice of closure. Waiting on ink to print as much as I may. Thank again.

Concerning translations
Hello, I have been praying the 12 year St. Bridget prayers for months now. As I like to pray in various languages to gain more insight and resist monotony, I noticed that the English & Spanish versions have “through Mary’s unblemished (or immaculate) hands” while Swedish & Polish have “through the Immaculate Heart of Mary”. I’d like to hear commentary on this, if it is simply another expression of per Mariam ad Jesum or possibly be a translation error that could make the prayers less effective. Also, would the promises be applicable if we don’t include the offering prayers at all?
I’ve heard a priest explain that God’s grace is so abundant & benevolently given that the promises are certainly possible, but it is our internal disposition that limits us receiving His grace. I also considered, by some remarkable scapular stories, that it would only take one day to miss the prayers to lose the promises, which is certainly possible by forgetting, getting killed before saying them that day, etc.
Thank you for your ministry. May God reward you in Heaven!
Hi Nathan, thank you for your comment. These are beautiful prayers and, personally, I regard them of divine origin though obviously I don’t know it for sure. Meditating on the Precious Blood is surely a very good practise to keep.
Regarding the translations, if you refer to those offered on this website, they are generated via a language translation soft-ware ‘plug-in’ and so any inconsistencies are likely a function therein. This site doesn’t list the promises, specifically, however they are widely published elsewhere.
God bless and keep you, St. Bridget, intercede for you!
I would like to take over the website subject to costs.
I wish to open up a petition column so that I could pray for many souls especially those who have lost all hope.
Please let me know more
Thanl yu
God Bless You
Could you please pray for me? I’m 16 yrs old and am going to be confirmed in the catholic church in a few months and I’ve been feeling really distant from God lately, and I’m scared that this is the start of me loosing my religion. I pray that I’ll become a saint one day and that I can covert my family in doing so, but right now I don’t see how that’ll ever happen. Thank you, it’s much appreciated!!
God holds you in the palm of His hand. He will not forsake you. He will always be close by you. Call on His name and He will protect you.
I pray for blessings, conversion, graces and healing for you, and that your journey brings you to a strong conviction of faith.

Good Afternoon !
These prayers are beautiful. Is there a way that I could get these prayers in Spanish for my wife?
Hi, at the top right of the screen there is a translator tool (the flag icon). Good luck.
Welcome Back 🙏❤️
Thank you!
I discovered the 15 prayers (for one year) and the 7 prayers (for 12 years) of St. Bridget at Christmas (Dec 25), 2022. I am thankful because these prayers teach me the virtue of perseverance. I have been saying them faithfully daily and it is nice to see them here too. I am glad that this site came back up. It is even more important than ever before for the faithful since I just learned about Garabandal.
Thank you for your return and I praise God

(The Warning will be an Illumination of Conscience or Correction of Conscience. God will intervene in every person’s life, on earth, all at the same time. Each person on earth will see the sins of their entire lifetime. It will be devastating to some people. Others will see it as a sign of hope for the world.)
On this day, mankind will have a great chance to repent.
I hear it could come in my lifetime.

Thalidomide much. This one of the best presentation of these prayers.
Thank you so much dear for these short sweet endearing prayers . They make me feel very connected with Jesus when I say them . God bless you for this wonderful gift
Thank you for all the translations of these beautiful prayers! However, could someone please proofread the Latin translation, specifically the Crowning with Thorns and the Piercing of Jesus’ side? It appears they’ve been abbreviated. Thank you again 💓
Hi! There are the seven prayers and there are fifteen prayers. When to pray one and when to pray the other?
That would be a personal choice. Personally, I prayed the 15 Prayers and, toward their conclusion, commenced the 7 Prayers.
I would absolutely recommend undertaking faithfully the 15 Prayers; however, from a purely ‘do-ableness’ point of view: the 15 Prayers take roughly 15-20 minutes and the 7 Prayers about 8 minutes.
One will find, after a while, that both stick in the mind and can be recited from memory.
I’d previously commented that some prayers in the Latin version were incomplete. Edits have been made (thank you!), but the Crucifixion has some serious repetitive phrases and the first part of the Piercing of Jesus’ side is incomplete. And shouldn’t the word spinarum replace the word thorns?
Hi Sharon,
These prayers are only offered in English; I am not aware of any Latin rendering – if you are, please let me know!
There’s a drop-down box with a flag that offers a LOT of different languages in the upperright corner of the page. I’m American, and the flag for English is the flag of Great Britain.
S
Hi Sharon,
Thank you for your reply. That was an automated translation tool, and so very ‘robotic’ and, due to the likelihood of error, it has just been disabled. If you wish to pray these (or other prayers) in Latin, I would suggest you copy the text from this website and feed it through, time and again – sentence by sentence if necessary – the Google translator, looking for errors and disparities to the best of you ability. That might sound onerous though it’s not all that difficult.
Thank you for this site! The images are powerful. If I can recommend the 7 sorrows of Mary be added it would bring much fruit to this broken world.
Thank you kindly Blanca; you can find the Seven Sorrows of Mary here:
https://traditionalcatholicprayers.com/2020/02/09/seven-sorrows-of-mary/
Thank you and God Bless you and your ministry! May our Blessed Mother protect you and your loved ones.
Why hasn’t this prayer been accepted by the church? Is there a reason behind that? I want to start it but since the church hasn’t accepted it’s keeping me from starting it.
Hi Carmina,
There is absolutely nothing illicit, suppressed, prohibited or condemned about this beautiful devotion of St. Bridget of Sweden; much rather, the prayers are widely regarded as being of divine origin. The Church has not condemned them though has not deigned to approve the validity of the alleged promises attached to them. This does not mean that the promises are false, much less that there is any error in the prayers themselves, but rather that the Church simply has not made declaration regarding them.
St. Bridget of Sweden is one of the Church’s most celebrated saints. She was canonised in 1391 (which was confirmed by the Council of Constance in 1415) and the orthodoxy of her spiritual revelations was further confirmed by the Council of Basel in 1436. She is one of the six (6) patrons of Europe.
I would personally highly recommend you commence and cleave to this devotion; it takes roughly 8-9 minutes a day. Irrespective of the validity of the attached promises (which I personally hold as being wholly authentic), meditating on our Lord’s Passion is a pathway to heaven and many graces are afforded those who do so on a daily basis. Indeed, one of the graces promised – as an invaluable gift! – to those who practise the 7 Sorrows of Our Lady devotion is that Our Lord “will impress on their minds the remembrance of His Passion” and this is recounted by St. Alphonus de Liguori, Doctor of the Church, in his book “The Glories of Mary”.
Personally, I practise both devotions and typically recite the St. Bridget 7 Prayers and then Our Lady’s 7 Sorrows. It takes a mere 15 minutes.

Hi Jonathan, My daughter has been saying the 12 year novena for 2 years. She asked me a question concerning the last sentence in the Circumcision, “protection against the first mortal sin, especially among my relatives. Amen.” What does that actually mean? Because most of our relatives are grown and those sins are forgiven? I hope I made myself clear. 😉
Hi Signe, thank you for your comment.
I understand that (and the like reference at the close of the 3rd prayer) as extending to future generations.
The promises attached to these prayers, which are not listed though which I hold to be true & authentic (and which I will add to the commentary) include this:
“No one in the four successive generations of the soul who prays them will be lost.”
Keep at them. I am at the end of the 6th year and came perilously close to missing a couple of days in recent times.
I hope this helps. God bless you, the Virgin protect you and St. Bridget, Queen of Sweden, intercede for you.
Thank you, Jonathan, I will pass this onto my daughter. 💖 Also, I finished the 12 years last October and decided to start a new one the next day after I finished the first one. I figured why not, I can pray for more relatives 🙏💕
That’s very good of you! I imagine, just from my 6 years, that even if I live to be 103 I’ll continue their daily recitation in any event: my days would not be the same without them.
I highly recommend to you also the simple 7 Hail Marys in honour of her Sorrows; and too the ‘Real Letter of Jesus Christ’ devotion (in short, carrying said letter on thy person and reciting twice daily the Pater – Ave – Gloria whilst contemplating the shedding of the Precious Blood). People are quick to dismiss this devotion as, at best, superstition, however a little research will unearth miracles directly attached to it; including, if I recall correctly, the curious incident of Our most Blessed Mother catching a train to Rome, as the Mater Dolorosa, where-upon one fellow traveller actually bought her the ticket. I think the train wouldn’t move until she had boarded, which required purchase of such a ticket on her behalf; and, when they alighted at Rome, he went to pay his respects and found a letter saying “I am the Mater Dolorosa…” together with reimbursement for the ticket. A further letter regarding this incident was heaven-sent to the pope a few weeks later.
Anyway, all the very best wishes to you, your daughter & relatives.
Hey! I’m Bridget. Today is my feast day. I was wondering if I could have St. Bridget’s prayer to pray every day. I came to know about this website, and I’m really going to try this prayer every day to include in my schedule. Please pray for me. Thank you.
Thank you, Jonathan, for recommending the “Real Letter from Jesus.” I have now incorporated this prayer in my daily prayers. It is so short but, the meaning behind it is so beautiful. It’s amazing how Our Lord has given Mankind so many novenas and prayers to help us on our journey, He knows our attention span is short. Again thank you for this beautiful prayer. 💖 God bless you my friend 🙏
