St. Bridget 7 Prayers (12 Years)

7 Prayers (9 Minutes) Daily for 12 Years

These seven (7) beautiful prayers were allegedly given to St. Bridget of Sweden by our blessed Lord with the instruction that they were to be recited everyday for twelve (12) years. There are five (5) promises – again, alleged – made to those who complete this task. These promises are stupendous and are not approved by Holy Mother Church. This poster, who knows no better than you and does not wish to lead you into error, personally – personally – has faith in the supernatural origin of these prayers, though does not reproduce the alleged promises here for your consideration.

These prayers focus on the seven (7) Gospel accounts of the shedding of our Lord’s most Precious Blood, the price of our salvation, and it is certainly a worthy practise to meditate upon them daily. This poster, surely a most miserable sinner, contemplates these seven moments during the 7x Gloria Patris offered daily in honour of his Guardian Angel as part of his morning ablutions (albeit alternating the Seven (7) Sorrows of our Blessed Lady on Wednesdays and Saturdays).

As an additional devotion, it is surely meet and just to offer twice daily the Pater Noster – Ave Maria – Gloria Patri in honour of the drops of our Lord’s Precious Blood, of infinite value, which spilt to the ground in agony, for love of us, during His most bitter Passion.

The Fifteen (15) Miraculous Prayers of St. Bridget can also be prayed and the Revelations of St. Bridget can be found free online, or purchased here. Below is a video excerpt from these divinely inspired messages regarding the infiltration of the Church by her enemies and their subversion of her teaching which seems particularly apt for our modern, post-conciliar age.

The Litany of the Most Precious Blood is also included below for your convenience.

Opening Prayer

O Jesus, I now wish to pray the Lord’s Prayer seven times in unity with the love with which Thou sanctified this prayer in Thy Heart. Take it from my lips into Thy Divine Heart. Improve and complete it until it brings as much honour and joy to the Blessed Trinity as Thou granted it on earth with this prayer. May these pour upon Thy Holy Humanity in glorification to Thy painful wounds and the Precious Blood Thou spilled from them. Amen.

1) The Circumcision

The First Mortal sin

Our Father … Hail Mary … Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee the first wounds, the first pains and the first bloodshed, as atonement for my and all of humanity’s sins of youth, as protection against the first mortal sin, especially among my relatives. Amen.

2) The Suffering on the Mount of Olives

Sins of the heart

Our Father … Hail Mary … Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee the terrifying suffering of the Heart of Jesus on the Mount of Olives, and every drop of His sweat of Blood, as atonement for my and all of humanity’s sins of the heart, as protection against such sins, and for the spreading of divine and brotherly love. Amen.

3) The Scourging

Sins of the flesh

Our Father … Hail Mary … Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee the many thousands of wounds, the gruesome pains and the Precious Blood of the Scourging, as atonement for my and all of humanity’s sins of the flesh, as protection against such sins and the preservation of innocence, especially among my relatives. Amen.

4) The Crowning with Thorns

Sins of pride

Our Father … Hail Mary … Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee the wounds, the pains and the Precious Blood of the Holy Head of Jesus from the crowning with thorns, as atonement for my and all of humanity’s sins of the spirit, as protection against such sins and for the spreading of the Kingdom of Christ here on earth. Amen.

5) The Carrying of the Cross

Sins of the tongue, against the Cross

Our Father … Hail Mary … Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee the sufferings on the Way of the Cross, especially the Holy Wound on His shoulder and its Precious Blood, as atonement for my and all of humanity’s rebellion against the Cross, every grumbling against Thy holy Providence, and all other sins of the tongue, as protection against such sins and for true love of the Cross. Amen.

6) The Crucifixion of Jesus

For the Church and the Jews

Our Father … Hail Mary … Eternal Father, through Mary’s unblemished hands and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee Thy Son on the Cross, His nailing and lifting on high, the wounds on His hands and feet, and the three streams of His Precious Blood that poured forth for us from these, the extreme tortures of His Body and Soul, His precious Death and its un-bloody renewal in all Holy Masses on earth, as atonement for all wounds against vows and regulations within religious orders, as reparation for my and all the world’s sins, for the sick and dying, for all holy priests and laymen, for the intentions of the Holy Father toward the restoration of Christian families, for the strengthening of faith, for our country, for unity among all nations in Christ and His Church, and also for the Diaspora. Amen.

7) The Piercing of Jesus’ Side

All of mankind and the Holy Souls

Our Father … Hail Mary … Eternal Father, accept as worthy for the needs of Holy Church, and as atonement for the sins of all mankind, the Precious Blood and Water which poured forth from the wound of the Divine Heart of Jesus. Be gracious and merciful towards us.

Blood of Christ, the last precious content of His Holy Heart, wash me of all my and other’s guilt of sin! Water from the side of Christ, wash me clean of all punishments for sin and extinguish the flames of purgatory for me and for all the Poor Souls. Amen.

Sanctus Deus, Sanctus Fortis, Sanctus Immortális, miserére nobis.
(Holy God, Holy Strong, Holy Immortal, have mercy upon us.)

Most holy Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, save us!

Sancta Birgitta sponsa Christi. Ora pro nobis.
(St. Bridget, bride of Christ. Pray for us.)

St. Bridget, pray for us!

I would like to be able to PRINT this prayer as to have a hard copy which I could carry with me. Please let me know how I can do this.

  3. Jenny says:

Do you know if we are allowed to say more than one set of this prayer at a time so as to help more souls to heaven? Thank you!

    1. Traditional Catholic Prayers says:

I don’t know Jenny. Bear in mind, Holy Mother Church has not approved the alleged promises attached to these prayers.

One would suppose that God rewards prayer, fasting and Spiritual Acts of Mercy for the Holy Souls. Be sure to see our post: Daily Prayers for the Holy Souls in Purgatory and always pray Psalm 129 De Profundis for departed loved ones after the 6PM ‘evens’ Angelus Domini.

  4. Claire Barkley says:

Thank you so much for these beautiful prayers. I’m on my ninth year of praying this.

  5. Olivia says:

Do you have a list of all the Approved Prayers from Holy Mother Church? Thank you!

    1. Traditional Catholic Prayers says:

That would be a very long list. Look for published prayers that carry an imprimatur or ‘nihil obstat’ (nothing obstructing). One very good book is the Blessed Be God Prayerbook:

Blessed Be God prayerbook is a 2010 reprint of the 1960 edition printed by Kennedy & Sons. Imprimatur–Cardinal Spellman, 1959.
This 748 page Catholic prayer book is a compendium of all of the ancient and traditional prayers of the Catholic faith. For generations it was one of the most popular prayer books in use by Catholic Americans.

Regular and special prayers, popular devotions, favorite novenas.
Meditations and readings from the Holy Bible and the Imitation of Christ.
Epistles and Gospels for Sundays and Holydays from the Tridentine Mass.
Assorted novenas, devotions, and prayers to Our Lord, the Blessed Mother, and the Saints.
      Black Leather cover. Size: about 4″ X 6 1/2″, and 5/8″ thick.

I am so happy I have found your website. I love all of the traditional prayers I was taught as a child. I have been praying the 12 year novena of St. Bridget for 10 years, I have the prayer card which my sister gave me…what a gift. 🙏❤️
