Key to understanding the Seven Sorrows (Dolors) of Mary, and thus consoling her, is to recognise that the more she loved Jesus (and she loved Him perfectly) the more intensely sorrow filled her Immaculate Heart. Her martyrdom lasted 33 years, for St. Simeon revealed to her in excruciating detail what lay ahead for her dearest son, our Lord Jesus Christ. As such, all her joys became inexorably coloured with sorrow. And she endured these pains perfectly, with patience, humility and obedience, offering them to Almighty God for the salvation of poor sinners.

These beautiful prayers were allegedly given to St. Bridget of Sweden by our blessed Lord with the instruction that they were to be recited everyday for twelve (12) years. There are five (5) promises – again, alleged – made to those who complete this task. These promises are stupendous and are not approved by Holy Mother Church. This poster, who knows no better than you and does not wish to lead you into error, personally – personally – has faith in the supernatural origin of both, though does not reproduce the latter here for your consideration.

This novena to the Infant of Prague consists of opening prayers, 9 separate daily reflections, and concludes with the Christ the King Prayer. One may like to add Our Father … Hail Mary … Glory Be each day. Intentions can be stated at the start of novena or re-stated daily.
This prayer encapsulates a centrality of the Catholic Faith which is absent in Protestantism: our Lord’s Passion, His Precious Blood, His Real Presence in the Eucharist and, further, an emphasis that we need to be sanctified, which expresses itself in more than faith alone.
