Chaplet of St. Michael,
the ‘Rosary of Angels’
MICHAELMAS: 29 SEPTEMBER
SEE ALSO: PRAYERS TO ANGELS
The Chaplet of St. Michael the Archangel (or ‘Rosary of the Angels’) was given to Antónia d’Astónaco, a Portuguese Carmelite, by St. Michael with the promises listed below. It honours St. Michael and the nine Angelic Choirs and was approved and indulgenced by Pope Pius IX in 1851.
“Whoever would practice this devotion in his honour would have, when approaching the Holy Table, an escort of nine angels chosen from each of the nine Choirs. In addition, for the daily recital of these nine salutations, he promised his continual assistance and that all the holy angels during life, and after death deliverance from Purgatory for themselves and all their relations.”
(Promises of St. Michael to Antonia d’Astonac; see also)
The St. Michael Chaplet was recommended by Saintly Padre Pio to all of his spiritual children and to those who were suffering from temptations. It can be prayed daily or at any time and is especially recommended on the following feasts:
• Archangel St. Gabriel (March 24)
• Apparition of St. Michael the Archangel (May 8)
• Michaelmas (September 29)
• Holy Guardian Angels (October 2)
• Archangel St. Raphael (October 24)
• Tuesdays (the day of the week on which the Angels are traditionally honoured)

Invocation of the Nine Choirs of Angels
O Holy Angels, watch over us at all times during this perilous life;
O holy Archangels, be our guides on the way to heaven;
O heavenly choir of the Principalities, govern us in soul and body;
O mighty Powers, preserve us against the wiles of the demons;
O celestial Virtues, give us strength and courage in the battle of life;
O powerful Dominations, obtain for us dominion over the rebellion of our flesh;
O sacred Thrones, grant us peace with God and man;
O brilliant Cherubim, illumine our minds with heavenly knowledge;
O burning Seraphim, enkindle in our hearts the fire of charity.
Amen.

August Queen of Heaven Prayer
AUGUST Queen of the Heavens, Heavenly Sovereign of the Angels, thou who from the beginning received from God the power and the mission to crush the head of Satan, we humbly beseech thee, to send thy holy Legions so that, under thy command and through thy power, they may pursue the demons, combat them everywhere, suppress their boldness and drive them back into the abyss.
“Who is like unto God?”
O good and tender Mother, thou shalt always be our love and our hope!
O Divine Mother, send thy holy Angels to defend us and drive far away from us the cruel enemy.
All ye holy Angels and Archangels, defend us and guard us. Amen.
God bless us and the Virgin protect us!
(Given to Bl. Father Louis Cestac, 13 January 1864)

Psalm 90
Qui habitat.
The just is secure under the protection of God.
[1] The praise of a canticle for David.
HE that dwelleth in the aid of the most High, shall abide under the protection of the God of Jacob. [2] He shall say to the Lord: Thou art my protector, and my refuge: my God, in him will I trust. [3] For he hath delivered me from the snare of the hunters: and from the sharp word. [4] He will overshadow thee with his shoulders: and under his wings thou shalt trust. [5] His truth shall compass thee with a shield: thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night.
[6] Of the arrow that flieth in the day, of the business that walketh about in the dark: of invasion, or of the noonday devil. [7] A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand: but it shall not come nigh thee. [8] But thou shalt consider with thy eyes: and shalt see the reward of the wicked. [9] Because thou, O Lord, art my hope: thou hast made the most High thy refuge. [10] There shall no evil come to thee: nor shall the scourge come near thy dwelling.
[11] For he hath given his angels charge over thee; to keep thee in all thy ways. [12] In their hands they shall bear thee up: lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. [13] Thou shalt walk upon the asp and the basilisk: and thou shalt trample under foot the lion and the dragon. [14] Because he hoped in me I will deliver him: I will protect him because he hath known my name. [15] He shall cry to me, and I will hear him: I am with him in tribulation, I will deliver him, and I will glorify him.
[16] I will fill him with length of days; and I will shew him my salvation.
Gloria Patri …

Thank you for this wonderful website. I’ve been saying this novena for quite some time now. I purchased the beads from ewtn. When I am in temptations I pray some of these prayers.
St. Michael is my patron saint.
Blessings to all of you.
Michelle
Praying this for 1st time on Feast of Archangels 2024. Praying for mercy and protection upon our country, and the Church.
My mom said this Chaplet for my Goddaughters in 2020, and their anti-Catholic parents miraculously enrolled them in Catholic school… named St. Michael’s. Glory be to God.
Wow! Thank you for sharing that!
Thank you so much for theses prayers and Chaplet of St Michael. They get me through my days especially during these difficult times.
Thank you and may GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS 🙏🏿
I recently purchased the St. Michael prayer beads from EWTN (God bless Mother Angelica) and today I found these beautiful prayers quite by accident. Thank you for opening my eyes to these other prayers to St. Michael. Peace and holiness to you.
Good
Thank you for this website rich in tradition.
Would you post the complete (long) version of the St. Michael prayer?
what happened to the prayers to Archangels Gabriel, Raphael and Michael as well as the prayers to our guardian angel.
Hi, see the post PRAYERS TO ANGELS (linked at the top of the page).
These were removed to avoid duplication which search engines can regard as spam.
As a recent convert I am so grateful to find these prayers. Thank-you
Good morning Brethren,
What happened to the Additional Prayers to St. Michael that I used to say in your website?
Thanks.
Hi, see the post PRAYERS TO ANGELS (linked at the top of the page).
These were removed to avoid duplication which search engines can regard as spam.
Thank you for this I have been teaching myself some prayers in Latin and have been wanting to learn the St. Michael chaplet in Latin you have made this so easy to follow. God bless 🙏
There is a mistake in the Portuguese translation. “Amen” should stay Amen in the Portuguese and never be translated as “Um homem”.
I think that’s the software plugin, but well spotted. + God bless.
Also in the latin version of the website “choir” and “Missa” are not translated into Cappellae.
You see it in “choir of Seraphim” or in “Missa cherubim”.
We need St. Michael and all the angels now more than ever! Let us pray as much as God enables and as much as we can. Thank you for these prayers!
Thank you for posting these prayers. Regarding the St. Michael Chaplet, the words of the 5th and 6th salutation do not correspond to the voice recording. ie the wordings for the 6th salutation is said during the 5th salutation in the recording, and the wording for the 5th salutation is said during the 6th in the recording…please correct me if I am wrong..
Hello! The Chaplet of Saint Michael in Latin needs to be fixed! It goes to about the third choir and then reverses back to the beginning. Please see if you can correct this as I do like praying this. Thanks!
Hi Mary,
Thank you for your comment. That recording is taken from the Boston Catholic Journal and, while very good, there are a couple of flaws in it. From memory, two of the choirs are in wrong order and it may miss the odd Pater Noster. We’ve brought this to the gentleman’s attention though to our knowledge it has not been updated. Please make do as best possible.
Love the site and have been praying the chaplet daily. I am intrigued about the statue shown, and would like to know more about it. Is it real or CG? Where is it located? Thank you for all you do and God bless.
Hello I contacted Boston and I was told the Saint Michael Chaplet in Latin is fixed.
So, is there a way your website can be corrected with this now too? I just went to the Boston Catholic Journal website and the Saint Michael Chaplet in Latin is indeed correct for audible download. Thank you! Mary
Oh it is? I’ll update – thank you.
Thank you for posting these prayers. I’ve always had devotion to St. Michael the Archangel. It began when I first heard Mother Angelica, of EWTN, recite it in one of her videos back in 1998 or 1999. May god bless you a thousand fold.
Thank you Jesus for these Powerful Prayers and for those who have this site established for the Salvation for Souls. Continue Blessing your Holy people and Children.

Act of Contrition:
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of Hell, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life. Amen.
I’m grateful for this page, I wish you’d have the entire Chaplet in Latin, rather than just looping the same little bit. If you can update this it would be appreciated. Thank you.
This is a wonderful sight, thank you.
Thank you very much for this chaplet of St. Michael the Archangel. It helps me lot to be a better Christian everyday. San Padre Pio is right, rosary is your powerful protection. May God bless us all.
Thanks be to God❤️
Good evening, Just inquiring you have a St. Michael’s chaplet in Latin and English At one point you used to have it in many other languages, including French , Portuguese, etc. I’m kind of saddened that you no longer have them in the multiple languages, including Farsi. I was showing some friends and they were very interested. Is there a way of displaying this once again? Thank you Enjoy this very much God bless
Hi Gerard, thank you for your enquiry.
The other languages were only via the ‘Google’ plug-in language converter.
You can copy any content and paste it into their online translation tool. I removed it as, on consideration, it may have had varying degrees of accuracy.
