Prayers for Every Day of the Week in Aid of the Poor Souls in Purgatory
From the Saints:
“To assist the souls in Purgatory is to perform the most excellent of the works of mercy, or rather it is to practice in a most sublime manner all the works of mercy together; it is to visit the sick; it is to give drink to those who thirst for the vision of God; it is to feed the hungry, to ransom prisoners, to clothe the naked, to procure for poor exiles the hospitality of the Heavenly Jerusalem; it is to comfort the afflicted, to instruct the ignorant — in fine, to practice all works of mercy in one.” (St. Francis de Sales)
“In union with the divine Heart of Jesus make a short pilgrimage to Purgatory at night. Offer Him all your activities of the day and ask Him to apply His merits to the suffering souls. At the same time implore them to obtain for you the grace to live and die in the love and friendship of this divine Heart. May He never find in you any resistance to His holy will, nor any wish to thwart His designs in your regard. Fortunate will you be, if you succeed in obtaining deliverance for some of these imprisoned souls, for you will gain as many friends in heaven.” (St Margaret Mary Alocoque)

Amen.

PSALM 129
De profundis. A prayer of a sinner, trusting in the mercies of God. The sixth penitential psalm.
OUT of the depths I have cried unto Thee, O Lord: Lord, hear my voice. Let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication. If Thou, O Lord, shalt mark our iniquities: O Lord, who can abide it? For with Thee there is mercy: and by reason of Thy law I have waited on Thee, O Lord. My soul hath waited on His word: my soul hath hoped in the Lord.
From the morning watch even unto night: let Israel hope in the Lord. For with the Lord there is mercy: and with Him is plenteous redemption. And He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace. Amen.
℣. O Lord, hear my prayer.
℟. And let my cry come unto Thee.
Let us pray.
O GOD, the Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful; grant to the souls of Thy servants and handmaidens departed the remission of all their sins, that by our pious supplications they may obtain that pardon which they have ever desired. Who livest and reignest world without end. Amen.
℣. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord.
℟. And let perpetual light shine upon them.
℣. May they rest in peace.
℟. Amen.
(Trad. indulgence: 3 years; 5 years during November)
Pater noster
PATER noster, Qui es in cœlis, sanctificétur nomen tuum.
Advéniat regnum tuum, fiat volúntus tua, sicut in cœlo et in terra.
Panem nostrum quotidiánum da nobis hódie,
et dimítte nobis débita nostra,
sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris.
Et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem :
sed líbera nos a malo. Amen.
Ave Maria
AVE María, grátia plena, Dóminus tecum.
Benedícta tu in muliéribus, et benedíctus fructus ventris tui, Iesus.
Sancta María, Mater Dei,
oro pro nobis peccatóribus,
nunc, et in hora mortis nostræ. Amen.
PSALMUS CXXIX
Canticum graduum.
Sustínuit ánima mea in verbo eius : sperávit ánima mea in Dómino.
A custódia matutína usque ad noctem : speret Israël in Dómino.
Requiéscant in pace. Amen.
℣. Dómine, exáudi oratiónem meam.

FIDÉLIUM, Deus, ómnium cónditor et redémptor : animábus famulórum famularúmque tuárum remissiónem cunctórum tríbue peccatórum : ut indulgéntiam, quam semper optavérunt, piis supplicatiónibus consequántur. Qui vivis et regnas in sæcula sæculórum. Amen.
℣. Réquiem ætérnam dona eis, Dómine.
℟. Et lux perpétua lúceat eis :
℣. Requiéscant in pace.
℟. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
(Ex Feast of All Souls)
O LORD Jesus Christ, King of glory, deliver the souls of all the faithful departed from the pains of hell and from the bottomless pit; deliver them out of the lion’s mouth, lest hell should swallow them up, lest they fall into the outer darkness; but let Thy standard-bearer, Saint Michael, bring them back into Thy holy light, which Thou didst promise of old to Abraham and to his seed. (Trad. indulgence: 3 years)
WE offer Thee, O Lord, sacrifices and prayers of praise; do Thou accept them for those souls whom we this day commemorate; grant them, O Lord, to pass from death to the life which Thou once didst promise to Abraham and his seed. Amen.
From the gate of hell, O Lord, deliver their souls.
St. Nicholas of Tolentino, pray for the Poor Souls.
Oratio Offertoria
Amen.
A porta inféri, érue, Dómine, ánimas eorum.

Hello,
I am looking for prayer cards with the Daily Prayers for the Holy Souls in Purgatory that have been made in the past. Do you have any insights as to where I can obtain these? My internet searches are coming up empty.
Thank you for any help you can offer.
Hi, can’t help you with that. They may be a bit long for simple prayer cards, but you will find them – and so much more – in the Blessed Be God Prayerbook: https://fraternitypublications.com/product/blessed-be-god-a-complete-catholic-prayer-book/
Hello Joy,
I am in process of trying to find a single fold prayer card (folded 2.5″ x 4.0″) to replace mine that is rapidly wearing
out. I have had it many years and since my husband left
Earth 5 years ago. I use it daily when I stop by cemetery to
pray for his soul. Can’t find anything similar ‘ANYWHERE”.
I will pray for you to find what you are looking for while I pray to find the one I am seeking. Have a Blessed evening. Happy McNamara
Hi Joy
I got my little daily prayer for the Holy Souls booklet from Servants of Mary, Help of Christians. Contact number is 9
02 95164080. [email protected]
How can I share these prayers w/ my sisters so they always have it on their phones too?
May God Accept Their souls
Hola hermanos
Muchas gracias.
Dios y María Santísima los bendigan.
Please send me this prayer- The Traditional Prayers
Daily Prayers for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Thanks
This is truly wonderful. Thank you. Would it be possible to have it in a printable format?
Looking for prayer called the great exchange for the holy souls where we pray to the Lord to exchange some if the pain and suffering of the poor schools of sorrow for sin and sorrow for not seeing God to us to lesson their stay in purgatory and to help us too.
How to buy the book titled “Hungry Souls”
It’s a very good – essential – read and is published by TAN books (so one can trust that it is completely orthodox). Here is a link to the TAN web-site, though you can surely purchase it elsewhere:

And here is an interesting review : https://www.goodcatholic.com/the-catholic-book-i-refused-to-read-hungry-souls-a-review/

Please make a copy of the devotions you pray.
How can I share this link with my sisters so they have access to these prayers?
