Act of Spiritual Communion

Usuque ad mortem oboediens factus

My Jesus, I believe that Thou art present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love Thee above all things, and I desire to receive Thee into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive Thee sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace Thee as if Thou wert already there and unite myself wholly to Thee. Never permit me to be separated from Thee. Amen.

Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof:
but speak the word only, and my soul shall be healed.

Dómine, non sum dignus ut intres sub tectum meum:
Sed tantum dic verbo et sanábitur ánima mea.

O Sacrament most holy! O Sacrament divine. All praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine.

Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee! My God, my God, I love Thee in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Amen.
(Given at first Fatima Apparition, May 13, 1917)

May the most just, most high, most adorable will of God be in all things done, and praised, and magnified for ever. (Fiat, laudetur, atque in aeternum superexaltetur justissima, altissima, et amabilissima voluntas Dei in omnibus.)

Prayer in Times of Epidemics

(extract from the Roman Ritual, Titulus IX, Caput X)

V/. Deal not with us, Lord, according to our sins.
R/. And take not vengeance on us because of our misdeeds.

V/. Help us, O God, our Deliverer.
R/. And for thy name’s sake, O Lord, free us.

V/. Remember not, O Lord, our sins of old.
R/. Hasten to us with thy compassion, for we are become exceeding poor.

V/. St. Sebastian, pray for us.
R/. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

V/. O Lord, hear my prayer.
R/. And let my cry come unto thee.
V/. The Lord be with you.
R/. And with thy spirit

Let us pray.
Vouchsafe to hear us, O God, our only salva- tion! And through the intercession of the glo- rious and blessed Mary, Mother of God and ever Virgin, of thy blessed martyr, Sebastian and of all the saints, deliver thy people from the terrors of thy wrath, and restore their con- fidence by the outpouring of thy compassion. Be moved to pity, O Lord, at our earnest en- treaties, and heal the illnesses of body and soul; so that experiencing thy forgiveness we may ever rejoice in thy blessing.

We beseech thee, O Lord, grant us a hearing as we devoutly raise our petitions to thee, and graciously turn away the epidemic of plague which afflicts us; so that mortal hearts may rec- ognize that these scourges proceed from thine indignation and cease only when thou art moved to mercy. Through our Lord… (Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen.)
R/. Amen.

The priest then blesses the people with a relic of the True Cross, saying:
And may the blessing of Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit descend upon you and remain forever.
R/. Amen.

Prayer Against Contagious Diseases

pope zachary

+ O Cross of Christ, save me.

May zeal for Your house free me.

+ The Cross conquers; the Cross reigns; the Cross rules; by the sign of the Cross free me, O Lord, from this plague.

God, my God, drive this plague away from me, and from this place, and free me.

In Your hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit, my heart, and my body.

Before heaven and earth God was; and God is able to liberate me from this plague.

+ The Cross of Christ will expel the plague from this place and from my body.

It is good to wait for the help of God in silence, that He may drive away this plague from me.

I will incline my heart to performing Your just deeds, and I will not be confounded, for I have called upon You.

I had zeal on occasion of the wicked; seeing the peace of sinners, I have hoped in You.

The Cross of Christ puts demons to flight; corrupt air; and drives away the plague.

I am your Salvation, says the Lord; cry out to me, and I will hear you, and I will liberate you from this plague.

Abyss calls to abyss, and You have expelled demons by Your voice; liberate me from this plague.

Blessed the man who hopes in the Lord, and does not look upon vanities, and false extravagances.

+ May the Cross of Christ, which was once the cause of scandal and indignity, and is now in glory and nobility, be for my salvation, and expel from this place the demon, and corrupt air, and plague from my body.

May zeal for the honor of God convert me before I die, and in Your Name, save me from this plague.

+ May the sign of the Cross free the People of God, and those who trust in Him, from the plague.

Will this foolish people return to the Lord? Make good on your vows, offering a sacrifice of praise and faith to Him, because He is able to liberate this place and me, from this plague; for whoever trusts in Him will not be confounded.

If I will not praise You, let my tongue stick to my throat and to my jaws; free those who hope in You; in You I trust; liberate me and this place, O God, from this plague, for Your Name has been invoked in prayer.

At Your death, O Lord, darkness fell over the whole earth; my God, render the power of the devil tenuous and dim, for it is for this that You have come, O Son of the living God: so that you might destroy the works of the devil with Your power, drive out from this place and from me, Your servant, this plague; and may the corrupt air depart from me into the outer darkness.

+ Defend us, O Cross of Christ, and expel from this place the plague, and free Your servant from this plague, You who are kind, and merciful, and of many mercies, and true.

Blessed is he who does not look upon vanities, and false extravagances; on the day of evil the Lord will free him; Lord, I have trusted in You; free me from this plague.

God has become my refuge; because I have trusted in You, free me from this plague.

Look upon me, O Lord my God, Adonai, from the holy seat of Your Majesty, and have mercy on me, and because of Your mercy, free me from this plague.

You are my Salvation: heal me, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved.

(Attributed to Pope St. Zachary; “used by the Council of Trent”)

O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences by which He is offended. Rogation Day Prayer

Rogation Day Prayers for God's Mercy

All we can do is worth nothing
Unless God blesses the deed;
Vainly we hope for the harvest-tide
Till God gives life to the seed;
Yet nearer and nearer draws the time,
The time that shall surely be
When the earth shall be filled with the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea.

To the regular family prayers, which we say during the Easter season, we add the following:

Father: Praise the Lord; for He is good.
Family: His mercy endures forever.
Father: We beseech Thee, Almighty God, that because of our afflictions we may rely on Thy goodness, and with Thy protection may be defended against all adversities.
Family: And I say to you; ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it shall be opened. Alleluia.

Prayer of St. Augustine to the Holy Face

I appear before Thy Holy Face, O my Saviour, laden with my sins and the penalties they have brought upon me. What I suffer is far less that I deserve, for although conscious of the justice of my punishment, I cease not to commit fresh sins every day. I sink beneath Thy scourges, yet I do not amend my ways; my heart is full of bitterness, still my obstinacy in evil remains ever the same. My life is spent in misery, and I do not correct myself. When Thou chastisest me, I make Thee great promises, which, as soon as Thou liftest up Thy hand, I forget.

I come now to make to Thee, O God, a sincere confession of my sins. I declare in Thy presence that if Thou show not Thy mercy to me, I shall surely perish. Grant me, my Saviour, what I beg of Thee, since of Thy pure goodness Thou hast drawn me out of nothingness to put me into a state wherein I can pray to Thee. Amen.

Hail, Adorable Head, crowned with thorns and struck with a reed for us!
Hail, worshipful Face, spit upon and smitten for us!
O bleeding Face, O Face divine, be every adoration Thine!

St. Patrick’s Breastplate

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.

I arise today
Through the strength of Christ’s birth with His baptism,
Through the strength of His crucifixion with His burial,
Through the strength of His resurrection with His ascension,
Through the strength of His descent for the judgment of doom.

I arise today
Through the strength of the love of cherubim,
In the obedience of angels,
In the service of archangels,
In the hope of resurrection to meet with reward,
In the prayers of patriarchs,
In the predictions of prophets,
In the preaching of apostles,
In the faith of confessors,
In the innocence of holy virgins,
In the deeds of righteous men.

I arise today, through
The strength of heaven,
The light of the sun,
The radiance of the moon,
The splendor of fire,
The speed of lightning,
The swiftness of wind,
The depth of the sea,
The stability of the earth,
The firmness of rock.

I arise today, through
God’s strength to pilot me,
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s host to save me
From snares of devils,
From temptation of vices,
From everyone who shall wish me ill,
afar and near.

I summon today
All these powers between me and those evils,
Against every cruel and merciless power
that may oppose my body and soul,
Against incantations of false prophets,
Against black laws of pagandom,
Against false laws of heretics,
Against craft of idolatry,
Against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,
Against every knowledge that corrupts man’s body and soul;
Christ to shield me today
Against poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against wounding,
So that there may come to me an abundance of reward.

Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.
Amen.

Prayers to Our Lord

Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

O most holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore Thee, I love Thee and with a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer Thee this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure, and wholly obedient to Thy will. Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in Thee and for Thee. Protect me in the midst of danger; comfort me in my afflictions; give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, Thy blessing on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death. Within Thy Heart I place my every care. In every need let me come to Thee with humble trust saying, ‘Heart of Jesus help me’. Amen.

Merciful Jesus, I consecrate myself today and always to Thy Most Sacred Heart.
O Sweetest Heart of Jesus, I implore that I may ever love Thee more and more.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I believe in Thy Love for me.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, convert sinners, save the dying, deliver the Holy Souls in Purgatory.

An Act of Reparation to Sacred Heart of Jesus (#1)

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, animated with a desire to repair the outrages unceasingly offered to Thee, we prostrate before Thy throne of mercy and on behalf of all mankind, pledge love and fidelity to Thee.

+ The more Thy mysteries are blasphemed, the more firmly we shall believe them, O Sacred Heart of Jesus!

+ The more hearts despise and ignore Thy Love, the more we shall love Thee, O loving Heart of Jesus!

+ The more that scientistic unbelief attacks Thy Divinity, the more humbly and profoundly we shall adore Thee, O Divine Heart of Jesus!

+ The more Thy Sacraments are despised and blasphemed, the more frequently we shall receive them with love and reverence, most generous Heart of Jesus!

+ The more Thy holy laws are transgressed and ignored, the more we shall take care to observe them, most holy Heart of Jesus!

+ The more Thou art blasphemed and scorned in the Holy Eucharist, Thy Sacrament of Love, the more ardently we shall adore Thee, Most Sacred Heart of Jesus!

+ The more the imitation of Thy virtues is scorned and forgotten, the more we shall endeavour to practice them, most obedient Heart of Jesus.

+ The more the devil strives to destroy souls, the more we shall be inflamed to save them by penances and prayers to Thee, most zealous Lover of Souls!

+ The more sin and impurity deface and destroy Thy divine image in man, the more we shall try by purity of life to be a living temple of the Holy Ghost, Most Sacred Heart of Jesus!

+ The more Thy Holy Church is scorned and compromised, the more we shall endeavour to be her faithful children, Most Loving Heart of Jesus!

+ The more that hubris, heresy and apostasy threaten Holy Church, the more we shall turn to Thy Sacred Heart and to the Immaculate Heart of Thy Mother to save us, O Sacred Heart of Jesus!

+ The more Thine Immaculate Mother is blasphemed, the more we shall increase our fervent devotions to her, Most Devoted Heart of Jesus!

+ The more Thy Church is persecuted, the more we shall pray and sacrifice for her triumph and exaltation, Most Sacred Heart of Jesus!

Let us pray.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, always obedient to the Eternal Father, teach us to be ever obedient and humble in the face of the diabolical disorientation that has sown such chaos in the Church and disheartened so many. Suffer us not to be scandalised by this long, dark night of the soul of our Church, but to persevere in loving obedience trusting always in Thine Sacred Heart and in Mary’s Immaculate Heart. Amen.

Prayer of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Adorable Heart of Jesus, glowing with Love for us and inflamed with zeal for our salvation. O Heart that understands the misery to which our sins have brought us, infinitely rich in Mercy to heal the wounds of our souls, behold me humbly kneeling before Thee to express the sorrow that fills my heart for the coldness and indifference with which I have so long returned the numberless benefits which Thou hast bestowed upon me.

With a deep sense of the outrages that have been heaped upon Thee by my sins and the sins of others, I wish to make reparation to Thy most Sacred Majesty. It was our sins that filled Thy Heart with bitterness; it was the weight of our guilt that pressed down Thy Face to the earth in the Garden of Olives and caused Thee to die in agony on the Cross. But now, repentant and sorrowful, I implore Thy forgiveness.

Adorable Heart of Jesus, Source of true consolation and ever merciful to the penitent sinner, impart to our hearts the spirit of penance that we may be sincerely sorry for our sins. Pardon them, O Lord, in Thy Mercy, and let all who have sinned against Thee in the Sacrament of Thy love be converted and return unto Thee. Deliver us from our sins. And in order to repair the sins of ingratitude by which we have grieved Thy most tender and loving Heart, may we love and honour Thee in the most adorable Sacrament of the Altar, where Thou art present to hear and grant our petitions and to be the food and life of our souls.

Merciful Jesus, be our Mediator with Thy Heavenly Father, Whom we have so grievously offended. Help us to amend our ways. As Thy Sacred Heart is our refuge and our hope when we have sinned, so let it be the strength and support of our repentance, and nothing in life or death shall ever separate us from Thee. Amen.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Kingdom come!
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, may the whole world burn with love for Thee!
May the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus be loved everywhere!

… or …

Act of Reparation to Sacred Heart of Jesus (#2)

O sweet Jesus, Whose overflowing charity for men is requited by so much forgetfulness, negligence and contempt, behold us prostrate before Thy altar eager to repair by a special act of homage the cruel indifference and injuries, to which Thy loving Heart is everywhere subject.

Mindful alas! that we ourselves have had a share in such great indignities, which we now deplore from the depths of our hearts, we humbly ask Thy pardon and declare our readiness to atone by voluntary expiation not only for our own personal offences, but also for the sins of those, who, straying far from the path of salvation, refuse in their obstinate infidelity to follow Thee, their Shepherd and Leader, or, renouncing the vows of their baptism, have cast off the sweet yoke of Thy Law.

We are now resolved to expiate such and every deplorable outrage committed against Thee; we are determined to make amends for the manifold offences against Christian modesty in unbecoming dress and behaviour, – for all the foul seductions laid to ensnare the feet of the innocent, – for the frequent violation of Sundays and holy days, and the shocking blasphemies uttered against Thee and Thy Saints.

We wish also to make amends for the insults to which Thy Vicar on earth and Thy priests are subjected, – for the profanation, by conscious neglect or terrible acts of sacrilege, of the very Sacrament of Thy divine love; and lastly for the public crimes of nations who resist the rights and the teaching authority of the Church which Thou hast founded.

Would, O Divine Jesus, we were able to wash away such abominations with our blood! We now offer, in reparation for these violations of Thy divine honour, the satisfaction Thou didst once make to Thine eternal Father on the cross and which Thou does continue to renew daily on our altars; we offer it in union with the acts of atonement of Thy Virgin Mother and all the Saints and of the pious faithful on earth; and we sincerely promise to make recompense, as far as we can with the help of Thy grace, for all neglect of Thy great love and for the sins we and others have committed in the past.

Henceforth we will live a life of unwavering faith, of purity of conduct, of perfect observance of the precepts of the gospel and especially that of charity. We promise to the best of our power to prevent others from offending Thee and to bring as many as possible to follow Thee.

O loving Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary our model in reparation, deign to receive the voluntary offering we make of this act of expiation; and by the crowning gift of perseverance keep us faithful unto death in our duty and the allegiance we owe to Thee, so that we may all one day come to that happy home, where Thou with the Father and the Holy Ghost livest and reignest God, world without end. Amen.

Christ the King
My Jesus, Mercy!

The Prayer of Christ the King

O Christ, Jesus, I acknowledge Thee as Universal King. For Thee all creatures have been made. Do Thou exercise over me all the rights that Thou hast.

Renew my Baptismal Vows, I renounce Satan, with all his works and pomps, and I promise to live as a good Catholic: Especially, do I pledge myself, by all the means in my power, to bring about the triumph of the rights of God and of Thy Church.

Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee all my poor actions to obtain that all hearts may recognise Thy Sacred Royalty, and that thus the reign of Thy Peace may be established throughout the entire world. Amen.

Let us pray.
Almighty, everlasting God, who didst will that all things should be made new in Thy beloved Son, the universal King, mercifully grant that all kindred of the Gentiles scattered by the ravages of sin may be brought under the sweet yoke of His rule. Who liveth and reigneth with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen.

Christ, I believe in Thee, the ultimate good. Thou only art the King of Kings, I adore and worship only Thee.

Act of Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart

Most sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us, humbly prostrate before Thine altar. We are Thine and Thine we wish to be; but to be more surely united with Thee, behold each one of us freely consecrates himself today to Thy Most Sacred Heart.

Many, indeed, have never known Thee; many, too, despising Thy precepts, have rejected Thee. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to Thy Sacred Heart. Be Thou King, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken Thee, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned Thee, grant that they may quickly return to their Father’s house, lest they die of wretchedness and hunger. Be Thou King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof and call them back to the harbour of truth and unity of faith, so that soon there may be but one flock and one shepherd.

Be Thou King of all those who even now sit in the shadow of idolatry or Islam, and refuse not Thou to bring them into the light of Thy kingdom. Look, finally, with eyes of pity upon the children of that race, which was for so long a time Thy chosen people; and let Thy Blood, which was once invoked upon them in vengeance, now descend upon them also in a cleansing flood of redemption and eternal life.

Grant, O Lord, to Thy Church, assurance of freedom and immunity from harm; give peace and order to all nations, and make the earth resound from pole to pole with one cry: Praise to the Divine Heart that wrought our salvation: to it be glory and honour forever. Amen.

Reparation for blasphemy against the Blessed Virgin Mary

Most glorious Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, turn thine eyes in pity upon us, miserable sinners; we are sore afflicted by the many evils that surround us in this life, but especially do we feel our hearts break within us upon hearing the dreadful insults and blasphemies uttered against thee, O Virgin Immaculate. O how these impious sayings offend the infinite Majesty of God and of His only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ! How they provoke His indignation and give us cause to fear the terrible effects of His vengeance!

… We desire, O most Holy Mother, to love thee and to honour thee with all our hearts, since this is the Will of God. And just because we love thee, we will do all that is in our power to make thee honoured and loved by all men. In the meantime do thou, our merciful Mother, the supreme comforter of the afflicted, accept this our act of reparation which we offer thee for ourselves and for all our families, as well as for all who impiously blaspheme thee, not knowing what they say. Do thou obtain for them from Almighty God the grace of conversion, and thus render more manifest and more glorious thy kindness, thy power and thy great mercy.

May they join with us in proclaiming thee Blessed among women, the Immaculate Virgin and most compassionate Mother of God. Amen.

3 Wonderful Psalms

Psalm 50 4th Penitential Psalm of King David

Psalm 50

Miserére.
The repentance and confession of David after his sin. The fourth penitential psalm.

[1] Unto the end, a psalm of David,
[2] When Nathan the prophet came to him after he had sinned with Bethsabee.

[3] Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy great mercy. And according to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my iniquity. [4] Wash me yet more from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. [5] For I know my iniquity, and my sin is always before me.

[6] To thee only have I sinned, and have done evil before thee: that thou mayst be justified in thy words and mayst overcome when thou art judged. [7] For behold I was conceived in iniquities; and in sins did my mother conceive me. [8] For behold thou hast loved truth: the uncertain and hidden things of thy wisdom thou hast made manifest to me. [9] Thou shalt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be cleansed: thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow. [10] To my hearing thou shalt give joy and gladness: and the bones that have been humbled shall rejoice.

[11] Turn away thy face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. [12] Create a clean heart in me, O God: and renew a right spirit within my bowels. [13] Cast me not away from thy face; and take not thy holy spirit from me. [14] Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and strengthen me with a perfect spirit. [15] I will teach the unjust thy ways: and the wicked shall be converted to thee.

[16] Deliver me from blood, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall extol thy justice. [17] O Lord, thou wilt open my lips: and my mouth shall declare thy praise. [18] For if thou hadst desired sacrifice, I would indeed have given it: with burnt offerings thou wilt not be delighted. [19] A sacrifice to God is an afflicted spirit: a contrite and humbled heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. [20] Deal favourably, O Lord, in thy good will with Sion; that the walls of Jerusalem may be built up.

[21] Then shalt thou accept the sacrifice of justice, oblations and whole burnt offerings: then shall they lay calves upon thy altar.

Gloria Patri …

King David

Psalm 102

Benedic, anima.
Thanksgiving to God for His mercies.

[1] FOR DAVID himself.

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and let all that is within me bless his holy name. [2] Bless the Lord, O my soul, and never forget all he hath done for thee. [3] Who forgiveth all thy iniquities: who healeth all thy diseases. [4] Who redeemeth thy life from destruction: who crowneth thee with mercy and compassion. [5] Who satisfieth thy desire with good things: thy youth shall be renewed like the eagle’s.

[6] The Lord doth mercies, and judgment for all that suffer wrong. [7] He hath made his ways known to Moses: his wills to the children of Israel. [8] The Lord is compassionate and merciful: longsuffering and plenteous in mercy. [9] He will not always be angry: nor will he threaten for ever. [10] He hath not dealt with us according to our sins: nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

[11] For according to the height of the heaven above the earth: he hath strengthened his mercy towards them that fear him. [12] As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our iniquities from us. [13] As a father hath compassion on his children, so hath the Lord compassion on them that fear him: [14] For he knoweth our frame. He remembereth that we are dust: [15] Man’s days are as grass, as the flower of the field so shall he flourish.

[16] For the spirit shall pass in him, and he shall not be: and he shall know his place no more. [17] But the mercy of the Lord is from eternity and unto eternity upon them that fear him: And his justice unto children’s children, [18] To such as keep his covenant, And are mindful of his commandments to do them. [19] The Lord hath prepared his throne in heaven: and his kingdom shall rule over all. [20] Bless the Lord, all ye his angels: you that are mighty in strength, and execute his word, hearkening to the voice of his orders.

[21] Bless the Lord, all ye his hosts: you ministers of his that do his will. [22] Bless the Lord, all his works: in every place of his dominion, O my soul, bless thou the Lord.

Gloria Patri …

Psalm-90_Qui-Habitat

Psalm 90

Qui habitat.
The just is secure under the protection of God.

[1] The praise of a canticle for David.

He that dwelleth in the aid of the most High, shall abide under the protection of the God of Jacob. [2] He shall say to the Lord: Thou art my protector, and my refuge: my God, in him will I trust. [3] For he hath delivered me from the snare of the hunters: and from the sharp word. [4] He will overshadow thee with his shoulders: and under his wings thou shalt trust. [5] His truth shall compass thee with a shield: thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night.

[6] Of the arrow that flieth in the day, of the business that walketh about in the dark: of invasion, or of the noonday devil. [7] A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand: but it shall not come nigh thee. [8] But thou shalt consider with thy eyes: and shalt see the reward of the wicked. [9] Because thou, O Lord, art my hope: thou hast made the most High thy refuge. [10] There shall no evil come to thee: nor shall the scourge come near thy dwelling.

[11] For he hath given his angels charge over thee; to keep thee in all thy ways. [12] In their hands they shall bear thee up: lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. [13] Thou shalt walk upon the asp and the basilisk: and thou shalt trample under foot the lion and the dragon. [14] Because he hoped in me I will deliver him: I will protect him because he hath known my name. [15] He shall cry to me, and I will hear him: I am with him in tribulation, I will deliver him, and I will glorify him.

[16] I will fill him with length of days; and I will shew him my salvation.

Gloria Patri …

Prayer to the Holy Infant of Prague

Infant Jesus Prague Novena

O Merciful Infant Jesus!

I know of Thy miraculous deeds for the sick. How many diseases Thou hast cured during Thy blessed life on earth, and how many venerators of Thy Miraculous Image ascribe to Thee their recovery and deliverance from most painful and hopeless maladies.

I know, indeed, that a sinner like me has merited his sufferings and has no right to ask for favors.

But in view of the innumerable graces and the miraculous cures granted even to the greatest sinners through the veneration of Thy holy infancy, particularly in the miraculous statue of Prague or in representations of it, I exclaim with the greatest assurance: O most loving Infant Jesus, full of pity, Thou canst cure me if Thou willest!

Do not hesitate, O Heavenly physician, if it be Thy will that I recover from this present illness; extend Thy most holy hands, and by Thy power take away all pain and infirmity, so that my recovery may be due, not to natural remedies, but to Thee alone.

If, however, Thou, in Thy inscrutable wisdom have determined otherwise, then at least restore my soul to perfect health, and fill me with heavenly consolation and blessing, that I may be like Thee, O Jesus, in my sufferings, and may glorify Thy providence until, at the death of my body, Thou doth bestow on me eternal life, Amen.

Prayers to Our Lady

Holy Father Francis’ Prayer to Mary
(March 2020, Coronavirus Pandemic)

O Mary,
you always shine on our path
as a sign of salvation and of hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick,
who at the cross took part in Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm.
You, Salvation of the Roman People,
know what we need,
and we are sure you will provide
so that, as in Cana of Galilee,
we may return to joy and to feasting
after this time of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love,
to conform to the will of the Father
and to do as we are told by Jesus,
who has taken upon himself our sufferings
and carried our sorrows
to lead us, through the Cross,
to the joy of the resurrection. Amen.

Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Prayer to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour

O Mother of Perpetual Succour, grant that I may always invoke thy most powerful name, for thy name is help in life, salvation in death.

Ah, Mary most pure, Mary most sweet, let thy name henceforth be the breath of my life. Tarry not, O Lady, to come to my succour, whenever I call upon thee, for in all the wants which shall befall me, I wilt never cease to call upon thee, and to repeat again and again: Mary, Mary!

What comfort, what sweetness, what confidence, what tenderness, does my soul feel in the mere mention of thy name, in the very thought of thee! I thank the Lord for having given thee, for my good, this name so sweet, so amiable, so powerful.

But merely to pronounce thy name is not enough for me. I wish to do so out of love: I wish that love may remind me to call thee always, Mother of Perpetual Succour. Amen.

Pater Noster … Ave Maria … Gloria Patri

Prayer to St. Corona in a Time of Epidemic

St. Corona - Prayer in times of epidemic

Lord Jesus Christ, Thou came into this world for our salvation. Look kindly on us now, we pray, that we, and all those who serve Thee, might be kept safe from this epidemic.

Heal those who are sick, comfort the suffering, bring back those who have gone astray, and above all, increase our faith, O Lord.

Give us the grace to follow Thee and, like the martyr St. Corona, who gave her life for love of Thee, to take up our crosses daily without fear or hesitation.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Amen.

St. Corona, patroness of epidemic victims, pray for us.
